You’ve heard the question: we all have. It’s often said with a mocking tone. “If God is good and God is all-powerful, why is there so much evil in the world?” Or, “Why do the innocent suffer?”
Your answer may differ based on the intent of the questioner. You never want to be vindictive, and you never want your response to not have the character of a Jesus-follower. At the same time, however, you have to help people realize that they are asking gigantic questions about the nature of life itself.
“Why is there evil in the world?” Because God in His mercy, gave to His creation the profound compliment of free will. The question is, “What have we done with our free will? Have we used it wisely?”
