Good morning, one and all
Is it just me, or does it seem like our country is becoming more and more divided? We have political divisions, racial divisions, and divisions about immigration, taxation, religion, and even the number of genders that exist. (it’s two, by the way).
You know me-I like to keep things simple, so I like to consider that there are only two groups of people that exist in our country, Christians (C) and non-Christians (NC). And instead of looking at the divisions between these two groups, let’s look at the commonalities. First of all, every single C and NC was made in the image of God:
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them…” [Genesis 1:27-28a]
Also, God has the same desire for every C and NC:
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” [II Peter 3:9]
Additionally, I will point out another commonality, which may be more difficult to digest. I will submit that every C and NC will inherit eternal life. The difference is-where will their eternity be spent?
“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” [I Thessalonians 4:17]
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)
The final commonality I will point out is that every C and NC is given a choice. God gives each person the freedom to choose, because He wants to be worshipped by those who freely want to worship Him. Not robotically, mind you, but by those who appreciate the meaning of being made in His image and of being loved by Him.
Eternity awaits everyone, and waits for no one. Choose wisely.
Blessings,
Keith
