Keep Seeking

Good morning–

You’ve seen those TV shows, or read in books, about where treasure hunters would try to find the buried gold.  They would use a map which contained clues, or even a dotted line, to guide them to the treasure chest. if they followed the path to the end, they got their reward.  But if they stopped their seeking at, say, the 99% point, they got nothing.

Did you know that God’s Word has a treasure map?

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,.. [Matthew 6:19-20a]

But the concept on my mind today is about seeking.  Seeking is an action word, best accomplished by prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with other seekers.  And I love what the Word teaches about seeking:

“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” [Psalm 34:4]

“Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.” [Psalm 105:3-4]

“Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart…I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.” [Psalm 119:2,10]

Jesus teaches us what the first goal of our seeking should be:

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [Matthew 6:31-33]

And so, boys and girls, they tell me that if we keep seeking, we’ll find treasure in them thar hills.  But we have to follow the path to the very end.

Just like Jesus did.

Keep seeking,

–Keith
