It doesn’t happen every season, but this year the foliage around here is spectacular. Nanci and I have taken several road trips in the last week for the sole purpose of looking at nature. And if you’re not careful, you may find yourself being drawn closer to God! You know the God I’m talking about, the One who created nature:
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day.”[Genesis 1:31]
“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,…” [I Timothy 4:4]
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;…” [Psalm 24:1]
Do you still remember your favorite subject in school? I do. It was recess. We would go outside and play baseball or whatever. and for a time we could leave behind all the learning and homework.
Many are going through some very personal issues right now, and add to that the political/societal problems we are all going through as a nation. What I am suggesting is, during this most beautiful time of the year, that you take a moment for recess. Smell the roses, admire the leaves, take a breath and appreciate God’s creation.
One hard lesson we learned about recess is that eventually the bell would ring and we were back in school. It turns out the school was still there, and so are many of our troubles of today even after you take a recess.
How can we find peace?
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”[John 16:33]
Blessings,
