From Phil Clemons, Moderator
During recent months our Church Council, Deacons, Trustees, Outreach Team and Pastor have been navigating through challenges of the “COVID era”: finances, staffing, disruptions to various, and more. But there is good news to share as well: our church has received a sizeable bequest from a trust in Hanover, which will supplement the ongoing faithful giving by our members and friends. In the Congregational Way, major decisions call for our membership be involved, to help church leadership move forward to:
- Retire debt
- Staff for ministry to youth and families (our future!)
- Increase our reserve funds
God is blessing us, and we collectively need to be good stewards of those blessings. Therefore Church Council voted at its October 20 meeting to call a Congregational Meeting for Sunday November 8, 2020, for the purposes of communicating about church finances and staffing. All necessary steps will be taken to assure compliance with public health requirements and to maximize personal safety. Specific time, location, remote attendance options, and other details will be announced during the coming week. The official meeting call will be posted by both traditional and all other available means.
We invite all church members to be a part of this meeting, whether remotely or in person, and certainly to support it in prayer that we may align our thoughts and actions with God’s will.
