The miracles that Jesus performed must have amazed everyone who witnessed them. He opened the eyes of the blind, He caused the deaf to hear, He healed the crippled, He fed thousands of people with meager resources. But unarguably the most amazing miracles people witnessed were when He raised the dead to life:
“When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!‘ The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.” [John 11:43-44]
“While he was saying this, a ruler came and knelt before him and said, ‘My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.”…After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.” [Matthew 9:18,25]
Few of us, if any, have seen someone who was dead raised to life. But here is what I propose–look in the mirror:
“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient….But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.” [Ephesians 2:1,4-5]
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” [Romans 6:4]
So now if someone asks you if you know of anyone who has been raised from the dead, you can say “YES!”
