Do I Praise God Enough?

Like many words, the word “praise” has multiple meanings.  Among these are ‘commend the worth of’, ‘express approval of’, ‘express admiration for’, ‘extol’, and ‘laud the glory of’.  And as much as I don’t like to highlight my shortcomings (of which there are many), I do so to encourage you to examine similar areas in your own life to work on.  The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of our faith and to provide a pathway to please God more.

My shortcoming?  I’m not sure I praise God the Father, Jesus the Son, or the Holy Spirit enough.  Am I alone?  So today I want to review some scriptures in order to guide us into a more praiseworthy place in our lives.

“The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.  He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” ” [Moses, in Genesis 15:2]

“Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever.”  [Revelation 5:13]

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” [Ephesians 1:3]

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” [Matthew 5:16]

“I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.” [Psalm 108:3]

“Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” [Psalm 103:1-3]

“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.  Praise the LORD.” [Psalm 150:6]

Would not God be pleased with more praise?  Would not Jesus be pleased with more thanks?  Would not the Holy Spirit be pleased if we drew on His power more?

Praise the LORD,

Keith
