What is Your Christian Mission Statement?

Back when I was a young pup (many decades ago!), it seemed like suddenly every company started issuing ‘Mission Statements’, usually a short phrase or sentence that was to be considered the primary goal of the company.  The last firm I worked for was a medical company that made or re-sold thousands of products, from braces to wheelchairs, to aid those who had all types of physical issues.  Their Mission Statement was short, and to the point:  “Helping people…help people”.

Which got me to thinking–what if individual people had their own Mission Statements.  Better yet, what if Christians developed their own Mission Statements, some phrase or verse that described the main goal in their life.  So many possibilities.

I can’t presume what yours might be, so I guess I’ll have to use myself as an example.  Again I will state–such is the lot of the email writer!  I’m thinking of a verse in Ephesians that I think of often and try to live by every day:

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  [2:10]

But wait!  There’s no reason for me to presume your Mission Statement.  All you have to do is determine what yours is and reply to this email to let me know.  You can ‘reply all’ or you can reply just to me.  I will only share them (anonymously) if you give me permission.

Thousands of companies thought it was important to determine what their main goal was and to state it in a simple declaration.  Perhaps it would be instructive if millions of Christians did the same.

Blessings,

Keith
