Are You Standing On The Rock?

Lucifer.  Satan.  The devil.  By whatever name you call him, he certainly seems to be on the move lately.  If you’re one of those “news junkies’, the headlines seem filled with his activities.  Why is this the case, I wonder?  What’s the rush?  The following verse

takes place in the final 7-year period prophesied in Daniel 9:27, but I have no problem detecting Satan’s current momentum:

“Therefore, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!  He is filled with fury, because he knows his time  is short.” [Revelation 12:12]

Providentially, the shepherd/poet/king David wrote Psalms to all believers advising us that we have the power to resist Satan’s fury:

“I love you, O LORD, my strength.  The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.  He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”  [Psalm 18:1-3]

The prophet Isaiah is in agreement with David:

“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD. the LORD, is the Rock eternal.” [26:4]

Finally, Jesus taught us how to build our house (order our life):

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  [Matthew 7:24-25]

We can choose to allow the rain and wind of current events to batter us.  Or, we can choose, every day, to build our house on the Rock.

Blessings,
