Harambee

.

I believe that God is showing us through the health challenges of Phil and Linda that we have relied upon a few people to carry the load for the rest of us. This is contrary to our covenant and our understanding as Congregational Christians. Indeed, last week the scriptures reminded us that we are co-inheritors with one another and members of the same body. We are woven together by Gods Spirit. To be part of Christ is to be part of His Body.

It is time for each of us to take a piece, to break down the big loads that some carry so that all carry some. What part is God calling you to fulfill? Where is God calling you to serve?

The need for a Vice Moderator of our Church Council has become evident. While Lee Baker has graciously agreed to serve in this role for the next two months, this is a specific prayer focus for all of us.

The Kenyans have a word Harambee” (Hah-rahm-bay) that both is a rallying cry and also a shout as they join together to tackle a big project that could not be accomplished by just a few. Harambeemeans “Let’s all get together and push.

It is important that we are careful as a church to be about our Fathers business. There is much he would have us do in

  • Giving God the worship of which is He is worthy,

  • Care for one another,

  • Teaching and raising up the next generation, and

  • Reaching out to others who do not yet know our Savior.

Please consider your place in God’s purposes for our church and be willing to step forward to help shoulder the responsibilities that all of us share together.

Harambee!

Glad to be on the journey with you – Peter
